We divide our business

The Nickel Research and Development

Division focuses on seeking new knowledge in pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy processes, testing ideas, creating efficient methods and new concepts, gaining a deep understanding of processes, and applying them to improve products or services in the nickel industry.

The Fabrication

Provides services for the manufacture of large equipment for nickel smelter plants, the manufacture of plant structural components, the manufacture of pipes and ducting, mining support equipment, and the repair and reconditioning of components.

The Engineering

Provides technical engineering services from mining and initial processing, smelting, and refining to their derivative products. Our work includes designing and constructing smelter plants through project contracts, process optimization consulting services, technical audits, production capacity improvements, selling rights to processes and designs, and training smelter plant operators until they are ready to operate.

Smelter

But certainly we are not forging ahead with the smelter on the basis that we have some global competitive advantage in capital or labor,

Furnace

There is a shortage of zinc concentrates around the world and that shortage is constraining smelter production in China and places like South Korea and keeping supplies fairly tight.

MHB

We said when we curtailed that smelter that we would continue to explore ways that we would be able to find low-cost or competitively priced power to restart it.
